David W. Anderson joined William W. Drummey Architects in 1958. In 1961, WWD, Architect became Drummey Rosane Anderson, a Partnership which was incorporated in 1964 as Drummey Rosane Anderson, Inc. David served as the president from 1977 to 1990 and continued to work on special projects for several years after his 'retirement'.
David enjoyed travel as a means of exploring architecture and cultures, and actively sought to incorporate his experiences in his craft. The David W. Anderson Traveling Fellowship was established as a means of honoring David Anderson's life and his contribution to the vitality of DRA as well as acknowledging his love of travel.
The David W. Anderson Traveling Fellowship is awarded to the successful employee who demonstrates travel plans that best fulfill the following criteria:
- allows for personal professional growth
- returns the greatest value to the firm's collective knowledge
The award is in the amount of $2,000 in hand, and an additional week of vacation to aid in fulfilling the plan.
Application Proposals: Employee application proposals are limited to one single-sided letter size paper. From these submissions, a selection committee comprised of an Anderson family member, two friends/colleagues of David, and one DRA principal will select three applicants for a 20 minute interview.
Award / Presentation: The Traveling Fellowship is awarded on the anniversary of David's birthday, November 5th.
