Ephraim Curtis Middle School "The team/pod areas serve our students and staff quite well. We knew that proximity of a team's classrooms, combined with lockers and pod area, was central to our school's organization. The design successfully met that goal. Teams of 90 to 100 students have gathered comfortably in the pod areas for meetings; small groups of students can be seen easily working in the pods. Teams also use the pod areas, combined with classroom space, for staging exhibits and demonstrations to which parents are invited. These are very busy places in our school. Our central locations like the auditorium and library merit their own commendation for practicality in a large middle school."
Kevin Thomas Plodzik, Ed. D, Principal (retired July 2003)
Beverly Enterprises "It is my understanding that DRA works within the eastern states. I was consistently impressed with their ability to focus on the requirements of our projects, and produce thoughtful and creative solutions. They were able to listen to the needs of the project and make sure the final project met those needs without any major delays in construction."
Roderick L. Williams, Vice President, Ambulatory Services, Loudon Healthcare
Sage School "I wanted to thank you for all of the incredible work you have done over the past few months. You listen, care and want to create a special, unique school for us. It amazes me what you do from week to week. I don't know how you hear so many different ideas and make sense of them and remain positive. I admire your professionalism, your compassion and your incredible dedication. You are a joy to work with."
Amy Wheeler Sullivan, Assistant Head of School
Palmer Courthouse "They constantly sought our opinions as to our needs, our work responsibilities, court traffic patterns, in-court personnel interaction all during the planning and construction phases. They were constantly concerned with suggestions that would make the building more efficient. And all of this was done with a sense of quality and style that I think you would find it hard to duplicate. They couldn't have been better to work with or more concerned about designing a building as a Court, not just a building."
John McKelligott, Chief Probation Officer
"...my experience with them has been extremely positive and thoroughly professional. From the start of the project, studies, programming and schematics were all competed on time; with every question responded to, every request included, and all issues completely resolved. DRA was careful to insure that all interested parties in the development (bar association, judges, court personnel, county commissioners and local officials; elected and appointed), had an opportunity to provide their input. The end result was a fine product constructed well below their engineering and architectural estimates."
Thomas D. Begley, Superintendent, Hampden County Buildings
Henry Lord Middle School "The entire City is pleased with the design. Even early critics of the project have publicly stated that the building is exceptional, not only in design, but in its practicality. In today's terms, we can say that the building is 'user-friendly' for students, staff and the community.
You told all of us from the beginning that DRA would deliver a building on time, within budget, and a school building in which the City could take pride. DRA did all of that and more. Your attention to every concern and need expressed by the city was immediate, efficient, and effective."
John R. Correiro, Director, New England DAC, Brown University
Westford Public Schools "In all aspects of our working relationship with DRA, with the Principal, Carl Franceschi, and members of the architectural team, I have found them to be highly experienced in educational planning and design, good, responsive listeners and diligent in ensuring that our educational criteria and budget requirements are accomplished.
We have had a long and successful relationship with DRA since 1995 when they participated in our Town-wide study of school facilities and space needs. The architectural team has ably assisted us in presenting proposed projects to the Town at each step of our long-range program. DRA's level of service to Westford and the quality of their design expertise is exceptional."
John A. Crisafulli, Ed.D, Former Superintendent of Schools
Bedford Public Schools "DRA's initial task was to complete a school and Municipal Study for Bedford. The new elementary school resulted from the study findings. Members of DRA's architectural team created a great deal of community enthusiasm for the project when they provided a community workshop to help plan the new elementary school.
In all facets of the project DRA has exhibited a level of professional knowledge and understanding of Bedford's requirements which suggests dedication to a successful result."
Joseph E. Buckley, Jr., Superintendent of Schools
"In my opinion, DRA is one of the finest firms in the field to provide Master Plans, Building Studies, Architectural Design and Construction Administration. DRA also excels in providing close-out documents, which insures the preservation of the capital expenditure. The Department of Public Facilities would like to than DRA, and particularly Jim Barrett, for his listening skills and implementation of our ideas to meet the needs of the Bedford Public Schools."
Skip Bandini, C.P.E., MCPPO, Director, Public Facilities
Suffolk County Courthouse "DRA has consistently displayed a dedication to coordinating the multitude of details on the project, to adjusting their workload and staff to match the intense and short design schedule, and to be flexible in working with the client through the many changes that have taken place."
James C. Devol, Jr., Project Executive, Gilbane
Amherst-Pelham Regional Schools "Throughout the development of educational specifications, schematic design, design development, construction documents, SBAB application and construction management, DRA demonstrated a very high level of competence, responsiveness to staff and the Building Committee, and a real sense of integrity throughout all aspects of the project. It has been a real pleasure to work with them and we would love to work with them again. They have been outstanding."
Ronald Bell, Assistant Superintendent of Schools
Westford Academy "Much of the success can be attributed to the contract documents developed by your office and the offices of your engineering team. The documents (both plans and specifications) were complete in every detail. The communication during these project meetings was clear, concise and well organized. As a result, the physical construction of this complex project went extremely smooth and all milestones were met accordingly. Most importantly, we received virtually no warrantee problems from the Academy, which leads me to believe that the materials and equipment specified were appropriate for their intended use.
Anthony N. Papantonis, Project Executive, Suffolk Construction Company
Saber Healthcare "While working together on over fifteen projects, beginning in 1991 and currently in reconstructing a Nursing Home in Ohio, DRA continues to be my architect of choice. I have not only been continually impressed, but rely on the fact, that a firm of DRA's size is able to provide such attention to detail on even the smallest of jobs. Regardless of the number of active projects, I have always felt like our projects were the only project they were working on. Phone calls were returned, everyday crises were handled, questions were answered and the project was always finished promptly within budget.
This fact is even more impressive when you consider that my projects are outside their base state of Massachusetts. They consistently deliver the feeling of being local and on the job. This being critical when you consider out business being a local business, where successfully building projects often help define a healthcare provider's reputation. With the team from DRA on the job, I never have any question that our projects would establish and maintain that reputation."
George S. Repchick, CE, Saber Healthcare Group
Fitchburg High School "I believe that your excellent design was the main reason that all of the general contractors who bid on the high school came in with bids that were 2 and 3 million dollars below projected bids. After our second year in the building every aspect of the high school still looks like we opened it yesterday. The construction work was excellent and the quality materials that were selected I'm sure will last for many years."
Dr. Philip M. Fallon, Former Superintendent of Schools
"The knowledge and experience that you have brought to the construction of our new 38 million dollar high school was impressive, as was his management skills, effectiveness and professionalism."
Mary H. Whitney, Mayor of Fitchburg, former member of the School Building Committee
Belchertown High School "The teachers have all commented on how well you have listened to their comments and concerns and have worked with them on setting up their ideal educational space. We know that it is going to be a remarkable facility thanks to you and your staff at DRA!"
Christine Parzych, Principal
Davis Elementary School "I have found the process which DRA took us through to be a highly productive one. Our interests, concerns and wishes were clearly understood by the design team and the plans they created... put our vision on paper. We are especially delighted... to see how well our ideas were translated into reality. I attribute this success to the careful and extensive process DRA used in gathering information from staff, community members, students and administrators."
Ethel R. Furst, Principal
"...my gratitude to DRA and to you personally, Jim, for the wonderful new school... the new Davis School combines beauty and functionality. When I walk around the exterior and interior, I say 'Wow'! DRA and you in particular, Jim... did a terrific job listening to the ideas expressed by all of us, including neighborhood residents... The new Davis School is a learning center of which I am very proud"
Joseph E. Buckley, Jr., Superintendent of Schools
Hanson Middle School "From the beginning, Carl Franceschi and Jim Barrett from DRA established a sense of trust and a genuine desire to make the Hanson Middle School reflective of the needs of the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District. ...Seeking input from teachers, building administrators, central office personnel, and committee members, DRA was able to define the new school. ...Strong communication lines kept problems to a minimum and the progress of the project moving."
T. Ross Edminster, Principal
W.M.J. Dean Technical High School "Although this project was on a tight budget and with an extremely difficult site to work with, DRA completed the project on time and within the budget... DRA is without doubt the most professional, accessible and caring group of individuals I have ever worked with. I want to thank you for a job well done. I would highly recommend DRA for the design and construction of any facility."
Walter R. Welch, Director
"...Dean Technical Vocational High School ...has become the jewel of all new schools built in Western, Massachusetts. The elementary school additions... are equally impressive in appearance. Well constructed, esthetically appealing and functional... on time and within the budget... In short, they are a 'class act'."
George W. Counter, Superintendent of Schools
Adams Cheshire Regional School District "DRA was particularly effective in the specification and recommendation of furniture, equipment, and computers... Through DRA's research and recommendation, we examined issues related to networking... The cost savings resulting... allowed us to purchase 12 additional computers."
Bernard V. Fallon, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools
Newbury Elementary School "DRA assembled a team of professionals whose knowledge, availability, and attention to detail clearly indicated that our project was important. They repeatedly demonstrated their professionalism and patience... the final design reflects a facility designed to meet the needs of our educational program."
Richard J. Passeri, Chairman
Lynn Vocational Technical Institute "Your recent actions on behalf of the school and the student body are appreciated far beyond our ability to acknowledge them. The enthusiasm of your team of architects and consultants to meet the needs of Occupational Education in the Lynn Public Schools was greatly received."
Albert G. Malagrifa, Director, Lynn Vocational Technical Institute
Middleborough Public Schools "Working closely with me, they met every necessary deadline. Your design team has been outstanding in its dedication to detail, accuracy and responsibility. I know that your group has worked weekends and very late into the early morning hours to make important deadlines."
Alan R. Lindsay, Chairman
Thermo Electron "The best decision we made in the project was to retain Drummey Rosane Anderson Inc. as project architects. The DRA project team were consummate professionals who were able to translate our sometimes conflicting and inconsistent objectives into a workable design that satisfied our business requirements without exceeding our budget limitations. DRA was a pleasure to work with."
William O. Flannery, Vice President, Administration, Thermo Electron
EG&G "I am delighted to say that the project is a rousing success. Your translations of my rather vague and rambling descriptions is perfect. The fact that this project was brought in on schedule and within the budget was gratifying and surprising. Thanks for a job that really was "well done'."
John M. Kucharski, Chairman, EG&G
Regis College Performing Arts Center "...I want to thank you and your entire staff for their creativity, vision, and personal commitment demonstrated in designing the new Regis College Arts Center. Your firm's dedication to perfection was certainly evident"
Sister Therese Higgins, C.S.J., President, Regis College
