Athletic and Recreation Higher Education Corporate Courthouse Healthcare Library Performing Arts Schools Elementary Schools Middle Schools High Schools Independent Schools Courthouse Though initially a smaller area of our practice, DRA's portfolio of courthouse work has been consistently growing in the past decade. Our experience includes local, county, state and federal courthouse design and study. The environments range from historic renovation and adaptive re-use to new construction. In each of these cases issues of security, circulation and the aesthetic image of the courthouse within the community are all paramount. Courthouse design brings a complexity of adjacency, circulation and user issues. Judges, staff, police, public and detainees are all very separate user groups that need very different experiences within the building. Current security concerns and code issues provide a challenge within many historic structures.
