Built as part of a civic complex including the adjacent municipal police station, the courthouse is part of a historic district. The sixty-year-old facility has been completely renovated to reflect the needs of the modern courthouse. The building has been redesigned to address severe functional and physical deficiencies and completely reconfigured to contain two courtrooms, one detainee dock including a sallyport, detention area with three cells, control room, and conference room, two hearing rooms, and court staff areas. The exterior renovation work includes masonry restoration, two new stair towers to accommodate circulation issues, and the historical reconstruction of the existing terrace.
