Louis F. Angelo and Joseph F. Plouffe Elementary Schools Brockton, MA
As part of a significant effort to revitalize the entire Brockton Public School System under a Voluntary Desegregation Plan, DRA completed a system wide feasibility study and long-term master plan for the city's twenty-one schools. The study revealed a need for an improvement plan that included two new 800-student, PK-6 elementary schools. Each school was designed to inspire civic pride within a residential context and provide a state-of-the-art educational environment for the city's youngsters. Highlights of each project include safe rooftop play areas, science classrooms with a greenhouse, computer labs, cable networking for voice/data/video, and vaulted ceilings in the libraries.
