Monson High School
Monson, MA
DRA's initial study recommended the need to build a new high school and convert the existing junior/senior high school into a middle school. The new facility incorporates an expanded educational program, creates a campus setting and allows students and the community access to the gymnasium and library. The site plan also includes attendant athletic fields for school and community use.
The structural steel framing along with the solid masonry exterior, announce a strong presence on the high school site. Large, buttressed roof overhangs and massive masonry columns add to the building's sturdy character while creating an elegant contrast between shade and shadow.
