Agawam Public Library
Agawam, MA

Built in the late 1960s, the library was too dark and too small for the growing population. With the help of a construction grant, a major addition and renovation project nearly tripled the size of the library. The existing space became the children?s area complete with computers and a separate program room. The old library also has a community meeting room and small conference room. The addition houses the young adult section, reference area with computer labs, periodicals room and an administrative suite. Large expanses of glass and windows including a clerestory that runs through the entire center of the new building brings natural light to the space.  Construction was completed in two phases while the library remained in operation.
