This new 3-story library on the site of the existing library began with a feasibility study and site selection process. We determined that the current town center site was the most appropriate. Architecturally, the building draws from the historical buildings located around Braintree, although the primary entrance, in the rear of the building, is a contemporary contrast to the front fa?ade. The interiors of the building are designed around a functional working library with the majority of the adult collection on the lower level. The main level comprises new materials and primary staff functions. Located on the upper level are meeting rooms and the children?s room. The tower within the children?s room is surrounded by window seats and incorporates stained glass windows from the original library, a wonderful reflection of the town?s heritage.
