Wamsutta and Brennan Middle Schools Attleboro, MA
The signature design concept of these schools is the classroom cluster organization that responds to the client's desire to reduce the scale of the building and provide six "schools-within-a-school" (or houses). This efficient layout encourages team teaching, minimizes student travel and enhances supervision. A two-story classroom wing holds six house clusters for 75 to 150 students. Each cluster contains a large central common area that is utilized throughout the day by various students and teachers for a variety of activities. Classroom configurations and an accommodating technology plan permits flexible student groupings and allows for continual updating of teaching methods.
