With a prominent Music and Drama program, Newton South High School needed state of the art facilities to house concerts and drama productions. As part of the 1997 renovation/addition project at the school, the auditorium was expanded and enhanced and a black box theater was added. The drama program has a designated section, complete with scene shops, control rooms, black box theater and green rooms. The music department expanded to include instrumental rehearsal/recital rooms seating up to 120 people, an electronic music composing studio, spaces for individual practice and office and storage areas.
