Duxbury Performing Arts Center
Duxbury, MA

This professional level stage environment, inclusive of a 1,000 seat house, an adjustable proscenium opening, two technical / lighting catwalks, orchestra pit, caliper arm stage with adjustable thrust stage configuration, 65 foot fly with full technical grid is a shared resource within the Duxbury community.  Residing within a town campus environment inclusive of town operated playfields, library, senior center, aquatic center, elementary, middle and high school facilities, the PAC offers theater and performing arts space to the school community as well as community and professional level traveling stage users.  In programming and planning of the facility, the DRA-led team carefully planned for the shared school-community-professional use of the space.  A site circulation reconfiguration was made part of the project scope of work.  This effort ensured adequate parking and traffic flow, while improving site safety through vehicular / pedestrian traffic separation.  As an aid to fundraising, several community financial support packages for additional improvements in the theater environment were developed with the Committee.  Examples of the packages developed include an enhanced audio package, advanced theatrical lighting package, adjustable orchestra pit cover package.  Several of the packages were acted on during the construction period and made part of the final construction.
