Medford High School Pool
Medford, MA

We first assessed the existing pool facility at Medford High School in 2007 as part of an on-call services contract.  Our investigation found that the facility was in poor condition and in need of repair.  Immediate work would be required to prevent structural failure of the pool deck for safety and operational reasons.  Because closing the facility would eliminate in demand community and school programs and would incur costs, DRA recommended systematic repairs over a period of 5 years

As a follow up to DRA’s 2007 assessment, we continued in 2012 and 2013 with the design documentation and bidding process for the Pool and the Locker Room Remodel.

The scope includes structural repair to the pool deck and walls, general HVAC system redesign, new pool filter equipment, pool deck drainage, re-grouting the pool liner, interior finishes repair and upgrading ADA compliance access into the pool. Code upgrades and repairs to the locker room area are included in the work. Construction is scheduled to start in the Fall 2013 with completion of the project in April 2014
