Western Connecticut State University
Ruth Haas Library, Danbury, CT

Work also included building a new 33,000 SF facility for the Library to use as a swing space during construction.

A 50,000 SF addition to the existing, extremely inadequate 40,000 SF library.  The project involved complete interior demolition and rebuilding of the existing building, as well as entirely new facades for the existing building.

This five story (plus a basement) university library provides the campus with a much needed area for student and staff academic pursuits.  It received overwhelmingly positive response from students, faculty and staff alike.

The Main Floor of the library houses the circulation desk, reference department, technical services as well as a 24 hour cyber café which is available for student study 7 days a week.  The 2nd floor is entirely dedicated to AV services, with independent listening rooms, conference rooms and the video and record collection. Floors 3 through 5 house the library collection, with staff services located throughout.
