Educational Programmer & Planner
(posted 7/28/2017)

DRA is a master planning, architecture, and interior design firm that has served PK-12 schools, independent schools, and colleges & universities for over 90 years. Because the firm focuses on serving educational clients, DRA is particularly interested in a candidate with an educator’s background. This person will bring their deep teaching and/or school district experience to compliment the study and design teams at DRA as an Education Program & Planner. Candidates have an opportunity to support education throughout the region by bringing their expertise to the largest investment any educational community has: its learning environments.

An Educational Programmer & Planner works with many stakeholders, including superintendents, trustees, heads of school, principals, teachers, and others to fully understand and articulate the school's unique educational program. In conjunction with technical studies, like community demographic and site analyses, the Educational Programmer & Planner leverages these understandings to analyze options in a master plan study, or to develop quality design responses that best support education for that learning community.

Since DRA is interested in candidates with educational and / or teaching experience, we are willing to pay for and support the candidate in earning an accreditation in planning learning environments from the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE). This Accreditation in Learning Environment Planning will give the candidate a deep understanding and some experience in the facets of planning, along with the ALEP certification designation.

This position is immediately available in the Boston area and possibly in South Windsor, CT, as the firm has two studio locations. Compensation level to be determined based on applicant's education, skills, and relevant experience.
