History

Practice anything for 94 years and you’re bound to be good at it.

Drummey Rosane Anderson, Inc. (DRA) carries a long history of tradition and values that our staff continues to embody and honor through the quality of our work each day.

We began in 1923 (when gas was 22 cents a gallon and there was scarcely a building code) with one man, Colonel William W. Drummey, a graduate of the Boston Latin School and MIT.  His first significant commission, the Capitol Movie Theatre in Arlington, MA was completed in 1925.  In 1958 the Colonel invited Dick Rosane and David Anderson aboard and thus began a new chapter of the firm’s architectural journey. You name it and we’ve probably planned, designed and built it.  We have worked successfully in both the public and private sectors but a few areas of our portfolio are bursting at the seams – educational facilities and public libraries. We also have studios specializing in public safety, recreation/athletic, performing arts, courthouses, healthcare and commercial projects.

Yes, we have been around a while, but longevity just means that we love what we do and we hire the right people to help us thrive.  We continue to adapt, learn and bolster our staff with young, intelligent people who grow with the firm and share our passion and commitment. Coupled with nearly 100 years of experience, this successful recipe continues to energize us. Today, as a third generation firm, DRA is led by Principals, Carl R. Franceschi, AIA, James A. Barrett, AIA, Pao-Chung Chi, AIA, Kenneth C. Best, AIA, Scot Woodin, AIA and Vladimir Lyubetsky.
